Whitethorn Love

Rowan is my most favorite character in the Throne of Glass series. Whenever he was reminded about Lyria? My Heart shattered because that past he had with Lyria is just going to continually haunt him even if he loves and cares for Aelin very deeply. When he was protective of Aelin? Oh god, my heart soared. Maybe some might not like it his overprotectiveness, but I love it and for him to react the way he did is completely possible after losing Lyria he’s not going to lose Aelin that way too. Rowan is also just as bad ass. I’m not really going to go in detail on that because it would take way to long, and I don’t think my crazy reactions need much explaining. The one thing that I absolutely LOVED about Rowan in Queen of Shadows was the SASS. The sass man. It just made me laugh for hours. Literally. I’m going to put down some of my favorite sassy Rowan moments because they are too good and they will forever remain in my mind.

When he talks to Lorcan in the roof
“Should I thank you for putting on pants?” Lorcan said, his voice barely more than a midnight wind.
“I didn’t want you to feel inadequate,” Rowan replied, leaning against the roof door. OOOHHHH SO WONDERFULLY SASSY!!!

When he meets Arobynn and Aelin has told him about how Arobynn was so horrible to her.
“You can call me Rowan. That’s all you need to know.” He cocked his head to the side, a predator assessing prey. “Thank you for the oil,” he added. “My skin was a little dry.” Okay, this is sass and disrespect at its finest. I laughed so hard at this one because he completely one-upped Arobynn. When I read this I died. I just straight up died.

Then just Rowan being supportive and sweet to Aelin. It is also possibly my favorite quote out of this entire book just simply because what he says is so true.
“You will make mistakes. You will make decisions, and sometimes you will regret those choices. Sometimes there won’t be a right choice, just the best of several bad options. I don’t need to tell you that you can do this-you know you can. I wouldn’t have sworn the oath to you if I didn’t think you could.” (Pg. 251)

Every girl needs a Rowan Whitethorn.
